A New Era of Dining Arrives in Coconut Grove with Mae’s Room, Chuggie’s and Drinking Pig BBQ
November marked a defining moment for Coconut Grove’s culinary scene as Mae’s Group and Ariete Hospitality Group unveiled three distinct new dining experiences: Mae’s Room, Chuggie’s and Drinking Pig BBQ.
Together, the trio reimagines the neighborhood’s food and drink landscape, each concept offering its own voice while contributing to a shared story of nostalgia, sophistication and soulful community gathering.
“These three concepts represent the next evolution of Coconut Grove’s dining identity,” said Andrew Falsetto, CEO of Ariete Hospitality Group. “They’re rooted in personal stories, community spirit and a deep respect for the neighborhood’s legacy.”

A Night at Mae’s Room: Where Cocktails Meet Classic Cool
The opening celebration began with a VIP preview at Mae’s Room, a 40-seat cocktail parlor designed to feel like a midcentury living room with a dose of Manhattan charm. Guests were treated to an intimate tasting led by Tom Lasher-Walker. Attendees sipped signature cocktails like the Direct Martini, Better Than Ever and Hidalgo, paired with bites from neighboring Chuggie’s. Every detail spoke to Mae’s Room’s inspiration: a living room-style setting that invites guests to settle in and savor.

Chuggie’s: Chef Michael Beltran’s Nostalgic Burger Spot
The momentum continued later that week at Chuggie’s, Chef Michael Beltran’s laid-back, ’90s take on the classic burger joint inspired by his Miami upbringing (and his own childhood nickname). Guests enjoyed burgers, crispy fritas, juicy chicken sandwiches, classic fries, soft-serve cones, beers and draft cocktails in a playful space with backyard-patio sensibilities.

Drinking Pig BBQ: From Pop-Up to Permanent
The final preview brought the Grove’s newest smokehouse to life. Drinking Pig BBQ, helmed by Chef Raheem Sealey, officially found its first brick-and-mortar home after years as a wildly successful pop-up. The 1,600-square-foot indoor/outdoor space blends Caribbean spice with American barbecue tradition. During the VIP preview, guests gathered under the stars for an evening of ribs, brisket and cornbread, with a full cocktail bar and branded takeaway items.
The Grove’s New Culinary Chapter
With all three concepts now open at 3444 Main Highway in Coconut Grove, Mae’s Group and Ariete Hospitality Group have delivered more than just new restaurants—they’ve created a destination that feels deeply connected to the community it serves.
