McDonald’s Launches Mango Pineapple Real Fruit Smoothie
OBJECTIVE
We were charged with transforming a Miami McDonald’s restaurant into an exotic summer oasis for the national launch of the McCafe Mango Pineapple Real Fruit Smoothie with Latin star Alejandro Chaban.
IDEA / EVENT
The McDonald’s restaurant was refashioned from a branded fast food eatery to an upscale Caribbean destination. Exotic foliage, palm trees and floral arrangements were brought in to create a jungle themed dining room fashioned with fresh fruit centerpieces of mangos and pineapples that accompanied creatively plated tastings from the 600 calories or less menu.
Featuring live Latin tunes, interactive games and prizes, the McDonald’s restaurant offered an idyllic taste of summer to teens and families served by the Alejandro Chabán Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation founded by the actor/writer to help young Latinos and their families improve their health and self-esteem by facilitating the right tools for a healthy lifestyle.
Customers stopping by the McDonald’s restaurant throughout the day also got to experience and partake in the festivities with free samples of the refreshing Mango Pineapple Smoothie, music and dancing and a chance to transport themselves to their dream destination thanks to a green screen photo set-up.
RESULT
The buzz-worthy event was the first of its kind to launch a new menu item in McDonald’s restaurants. National and local print and online media outlets showed support as well as friends of Alejandro Chaban and his foundation. Media exposure included Univision’s Despierta America and Primer Impacto, Telefutura’s Excandalo TV, Univision.com and AOL.com.
